Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC quite a lot later than the Nintendo Switch. But it looks like Monster Hunter Stories 2 is having things a lot better. Not only will it be available on PC, it will be available on the same day as its release on the Nintendo Switch.
Capcom released a new trailer for the game, which says at the end “Available Worldwide, 9 July 2021”. Alongside this are both the logos for the Nintendo Switch and Steam. While the trailer doesn’t explicitly say that the game will be simultaneously released on both, it’s pretty much the impression that it gives.
This is quite the departure for Monster Hunter games on Nintendo platforms. Such titles usually remain exclusive to the platform for the entirety of its lifespan. Monster Hunter Rise being ported to PC is already pretty big. But a simultaneous release for Monster Hunter Stories 2 on both platforms is definitely a first.
At any rate, if you’re a fan of the previous Monster Hunter Stories on the 3DS, then this will likely be something you pick up. Fortunately, Nintendo did not pay Capcom a huge sum of cash for this one to be a timed exclusive to the Switch, the way the company did for Rise.
