There’s no denying that the launch of both the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Microsoft Xbox Series X consoles were rather damp and quite frankly, the ongoing supply shortage and scalping issue isn’t helping anyone. For owners of Microsoft’s console, they’re now facing a rather odd problem: their controllers are suffering from disconnection issues.
According to the complaints , some Xbox Series X controllers were supposedly having trouble staying connected to the console; one user wrote on the Microsoft help forum that his controllers suffered from intermittent disconnections in intervals of 10 seconds, for about five times. Effectively destroying the gaming experience.
The issues aren’t limited to disconnection either. Some users have also shown their Xbox Series X controller having problems synching to their consoles, while other controllers suffer the reverse where their controllers are connected, but button input wasn’t being registered.
Fortunately, there is some good news: Microsoft is fully aware of these issues with its Xbox Series X controller and has assured console owners that a fix, which will be made available via a future update, is on the way. In the meantime, it is recommending affected users to update their controllers with a current software update that’s already available on the official Xbox page. At least until the official fix rolls out.
And just to be clear, the Xbox Series X controller issue seems to be isolated to just the console, and there have been no similar issues reported for Windows. That said, it’s unlikely that the issue will pose a problem for us, on account that the console isn’t officially available in Malaysia.
