Hyundai closing down Asia Pacific HQ in Malaysia..

Hyundai closing down Asia Pacific HQ in Malaysia, moving to Indonesia

Few people know this, but Hyundai Motor Corporation has an office here in Malaysia. Located in Mutiara Damansara, next to Volvo dealer Ingress Swede Automobile is a nondescript office building that houses the Hyundai Training Academy (HTA), which also doubles as Hyundai Motor’s Asia Pacific regional headquarters.

Opened in 2015, the Malaysian team at the 17,965 square feet training centre cum regional office provides support, including sales and after-sales training to Hyundai associates in 32 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

Today, we received news that the Hyundai Training Academy will be closed down by the end of this year as Hyundai packs up and leaves for Indonesia. The news is a blow to Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional automotive hub for South East Asia.

Most of the Malaysian staff working there have been laid off and the few that remain will leave their position once the handover to the new Indonesian team is complete. The handover will be done in stages, and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
