Alleged AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Details Leak; Reportedly On Par With GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card is expected to hit store shelves globally, sometime at the end of February. While AMD has set their sights on providing consumers with its higher-end, RDNA2-powered Radeon RX 6000 series cards, there’s already talk online about a lower-tier RX 6700XT.

Based on a YouTube video posted by the user Moore’s Law is Dead, he says that NVIDIA’s launch of the RTX 3060 was due to a piece of information he received, indicating that AMD already has the 6700XT prepped and ready to give NVIDIA and its new mid-range card a run for its money.

As to why AMD didn’t announce the 6700XT during its CES 2021 keynote, the YouTuber says it’s probably because the GPU maker wants to make sure that it doesn’t want to get bogged down with another supply shortage, much like the one it is currently experiencing with its 6800 series and 6900XT. Or like NVIDIA’s high-end GeForce RTX 30 series.

As for specs, the 6700XT is expected to be based on the Navi 22 architecture, will have 12GB GDDR6 of graphics memory, running at 16Gbps and through a 192-bit memory bus. Additionally, the card is expected to come with 40 Compute Units (CUs) and a 96MB Infinity Cache, while running at a game clock between 2.35GHz and 2.5GHz. Moreover, AMD’s AiB partners will be using cooling solutions that just as effective as the ones used for the RTX 3070.

It goes without saying that these are just rumours and hearsay, so consuming this bit of news with a dash of salt is recommended. As it stands, there’s still no official word from AMD about the 6700XT’s potential pricing, let alone about the card.
