In case you missed it, you can get Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) for free on the Epic Games Store (EGS) until 21 May. When the offer first went online, the the EGS itself struggled to meet the demand of the sudden spike in traffic. But it looks like it’s not just the digital storefront, as Rockstar Games is also facing issues with high traffic.
Rockstar Games sent out a tweet stating just as much. But interestingly, the sudden spike in traffic in GTA V on PC is also causing issues to Rockstar Games Services, and the company’s own game launcher. At the time of writing, the company says that it has resolved the performance issues with both the game and the Rockstar Games Launcher.
It’s not really surprising that any of this is happening. GTA V is one of the biggest games of all time. Naturally, it being given away for free will draw unprecedented amounts of people to it, resulting in the spike in traffic.
So if you’ve not claimed it yet, remember to claim your free copy of GTA V on the EGS. You have until 21 May to do so, unless you’re against the EGS on principle or something.
