Today’s announcement marked the sixth EMCO after it was implemented in selected areas within Simpang Renggam, Hulu Langat, and Masjid India Kuala Lumpur as well as Menara City One in Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Kuala Lumpur. In Selayang, the EMCO will last until 3 May 2020.
Earlier this month, the government has already deployed police and army personnel to the Selayang Wholesale Market in order to enforce MCO in the area. This is because it has been widely observed that traders and customers over there have failed to social distance themselves.
Despite the EMCO implementation, the Selayang Wholesale Market will continue to be in operation as per usual. The actual focus of the EMCO is the housing areas surrounding the market, according to Minister Ismail in a reply during the briefing’s Q&A session.
Meanwhile, we insists that you already adhere to the on-going MCO directive by staying home as much as possible and practice good hygiene, so that together we can help break the chain of COVID-19 pandemic very soon.
