Nokia 7.1 Goes Official: Marks The Debut of PureDisplay Technology

HMD Global today launched yet another new device under its Android One smartphone lineup in the form of Nokia 7.1 during a launch event in London. As you might be to guess from its name, the new Nokia 7.1 was built upon the foundation left by its predecessor, the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 7.

Among the new features that the Nokia 7.1 has brought to the table is the new PureDisplay tech for its 5.84-inch Full HD+ 19:9 notched screen. The tech provides the new phone with not only the support for HDR10 contents but also real-time SDR to HDR conversion for videos.

At the same time, the tech also delivers adaptive brightness and contrast capability to the phone. During the launch event, it was mentioned on stage that HMD Global worked together with Pixelworks in order to deliver the display enhancements on Nokia 7.1.
With a glass back and 6000 series aluminum frame, the Nokia 7.1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and can be obtained with up to 4GB LPDDR4x RAM as well as 64GB e-MMC 5.1 internal storage. The phone is also able to support microSD card with storage space of up to 400GB.
In terms of photography, the Nokia 7.1 features a 12MP f/1.8 camera and 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor together with ZEISS optics on its rear. For selfies, the phone relies on its 8MP f/2.0 front camera. Completing its general specifications is a 3060 mAh battery.
The new Nokia 7.1 will be rolled out into the market starting from this month onwards with a global average price tag of EU 319 (about RM 1522) for the 3GB/32GB variant. On another hand, the 4GB/64GB variant has an average retail price of EU 349 (about RM 1665). For now, the phone’s availability and price in Malaysia are not yet known though.
