Remember earlier in May when we reported that Resident Evil 7 for the Nintendo Switch will be streamed and not downloaded? It looks like Assassins Creed Odyssey will be the second game to use the format.
The game will be made available to Switch owners in Japan starting 5 October 2018, as announced during the Nintendo Direct livestream. The price for the cloud game is stated at the end to be JPY8400 (~RM311).
One thing to notice here is that the price of access is comparable to any other full game in the market. This is unlike the implementation of Resident Evil 7, where you pay a fee equivalent to a quarter of the full price, which gets you 180 days access. Chances are, once you pay for this game you can play it whenever you please, instead of having to rush through it within a time limit, even if it is a generous limit.
But considering it’s a cloud version of the game, the space it actually takes up in the Switch is likely to be tiny, much like Resident Evil 7.
A spokesperson for Ubisoft told GameSpot that this is, at the moment, a release that’s limited to the Japanese market. Which makes sense, considering Japan is a country with blazing fast yet stable connection to the internet. This is something that will take the rest of the world quite a while to achieve.
